Q. Can I use the TOEIC IP test and speaking/writing test scores?

A. No. Please check the application guidelines of the graduate school for the valid types of TOEIC tests.

Q. Can I use the TOEFL MyBest score?

A. No. Department of Advanced Energy does not accept the TOEFL MyBest score.

Q. Is there a minimum score required to pass the TOEFL or TOEIC score?

A. No.

Q. How do you convert the TOEFL and TOEIC scores?

A. The conversion method is not disclosed. When you submit both TOEFL and TOEIC scores, you will not be disadvantaged.

Q. Is it possible to take the interview test in English?

A. If you wish, the interview is conducted in English as well as in Japanese.

Q. In the oral examination for Japanese, are there questions in English?

A. If you do not wish to conduct the interview in English, the interview will be conducted in Japanese.

Q. What are the contents of the oral examination on specialized subjects?

A. Oral examinations will be conducted according to the background of the examinee, such as undergraduate subjects and thesis. Please check the information published on the major website.

Q. Is it possible to select questions in the oral examination?

A. No. Candidates cannot specify the questions. Questions will be given according to the background of the examinee, such as the course status.

Q. What are the time slots for each of the interviews?

A. Each of the time slots is not disclosed in advance. Please secure all the dates for each test day before taking the test.

Q. How should I calculate the grades of the faculty and the scope of submission?

A. Please follow the instructions sent when you send the admission ticket.

Q. Can I apply for a laboratory in a field different from my background in my undergraduate course?

A. This is fine. If necessary, please contact your potential supervisor for inquiries regarding research content.

Q. Is it necessary to visit the laboratory or contact my potential supervisor in advance?

A. They are not necessary and does not affect the entrance examination results. However, they can be a good opportunity to know your potential future research activities. If you wish, please contact the faculty member by email or contact form before the application deadline.

Q. Please tell us about the special selection for foreigners.

A. Special selection for foreigners is for those who have completed high school equivalent or university undergraduate courses in a foreign country, etc.. For details on qualifications, please refer to the application guidelines for the graduate school.

Q. If a foreigner applies for the general entrance examination, is there any difference in the selection process from the Japanese examinees?

A. No.

Q. Can my university affect the examination?

A. No.

Q. Is it possible to apply concurrently?

A. You cannot apply for more than one major in the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the same time. For more detailed information, please check the application guidelines of the graduate school.
